SUPPORT NEW RENEWABLE ENERGY. 25% of the renewable energy sources in our green program are “new” (built after 1997). Supporting new resources is the best way to drive development of future renewable energy projects. SUPPORT LOCAL RENEWABLE ENERGY. Our program includes solar power from rooftops across Cape Cod, small hydro from across New England, and biomass from a closed landfill in Chicopee, MA. Over time, it is the Compact’s intention to incorporate wind from land-based projects in Massachusetts, particularly those in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard towns. A choice that benefits you and your community...When you pay a premium for Cape Light Compact GreenSM, you are making a worthy contribution to the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (”MTC”) to support the development of clean energy sources. Through CLEAN ENERGY CHOICESM, a program of the MTC, up to 98% of the premium you pay for Cape Light Compact GreenSM, is deductible from your federal income taxes, if you itemize. Furthermore, MTC will match a percentage of the premium you pay with two grants, funding clean energy projects benefiting both your community and the state’s low-income residents. 1. The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (“MTC”), a public agency of the Commonwealth and administrator of the Renewable Energy Trust, created the CLEAN ENERGY CHOICESM program. CLEAN ENERGY CHOICESM encourages the purchase of renewable energy certificates from renewable energy facilities that have been defined as “new” by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Suppliers who participate in this program agree to abide by specified rigorous standards relative to information disclosure, pricing, and consumer protection. 2. Please note that MTC will match a percentage of the premium you pay for Cape Light Compact GreenSM. The premium is the difference between the price of the Cape Light Compact Green 100%SM (or Cape Light Compact Green 50%SM) and the price for Cape Light Compact basic energy service.
